Vijay Tendulkar
One of India’s most powerful writers, the Marathi playwright Vijay Tendulkar is dead. News reports here, here, and here. His plays, and arguably his film-scripts for Shyam Benegal and Govind Nihalani, made him the angriest voice in India in the seventies and the eighties.
I’m working on an obit and will post it when it has been published.

This is very sad. I thought he’d be around for a while yet.

Amitava-bhaaiyaa, this is Sudipto Chatterjee. Yaad hai? Do send me the obit, when you’re done writing. I’d be very curious to hear what you have to say about VT.
