Libraries

I pay tribute to Amitav Ghosh’s In an Antique Land in the MLA radio show “What’s the Word?” The show will be available at the MLA site later and also will be broadcast from other stations. You can listen to the show tonight on the internet when WBGO in Newark, N.J (88.3FM) will air and simulcast the show at 7:30pm(EST). Go to the following link at 7:25pm this evening: http://wbgo.org/. On the top, right-hand side of the page single click on the “Listen Now!” tab. You will be at a new page which offers a choice of “desired formats.” Click on the format that you have on your system. Your system will begin to the play the simulcast “What’s the Word?” at 7:30pm.

  1. Thank you for that informative talk on Amitav Ghosh’s “In an Antique Land”. I have read and enjoyed Ghosh’s “The Glass Palace” and look forward to reading this one.

In your tribute, I especially liked the point your make about libraries being able to provide a voice for the oppressed. If possible, could you make the text of your speech available? Thank you.
