Camden 28

How far would you go to stop a war? “The Camden 28″ recalls a 1971 raid on a Camden, New Jersey draft board office by “Catholic Left” activists protesting the Vietnam War and its effects on urban America. Arrested on site in a clearly planned sting, the protesters included four Catholic priests, a Lutheran minister and 23 others.

Premiere: Sept. 11, 2007 at 10PM P.O.V., PBS TV. I’ll be watching it.

P.S. Posted on Sept 12. Watched the doc last night. A brilliant education in democracy!

Ila and Saya

After an active afternoon in Saya’s company, Ila went to the nearby lake and fed bread to a big turtle. When we returned home, she was giving her father trouble as he tried to get her ready for bed. Hearing him sigh volubly, she asked, “Dad, are you tired of having a child?” No, no, no. Even if dem bones do hurt this days.
