Garm Hawa

With this picture, my friend Irfan has revived memories of my first watching M.S. Sathyu’s “Garm Hawa.” Made in 1973, it is easily among the best films produced in post-Independence India. So much pain, so much waiting, each exchange rendered with enormous delicacy, as if one more harsh word or gesture would make everything absolutely unbearable.

Oh I agree with you completely Amitava. The soundtrack is also so delicate and poignant. Your post makes me wish to watch it again.

Dear Amitava, Garm Hawa is really one of the greatest movies ever made in India. I am in search of its CD or DVD. Can you help me in the search?
